UNEMPLOYMENT  & UNIT 2

Presentation1

Task 1:

My article of unemployment rises was written by BBC News which appeared on the website.

The date that the story appeared on the BBC website was Wednesday 18th March 2009.

There are many different main points of the article. They are:

  • “UK unemployment has risen above two million for the first time since 1997” or “Unemployment passes two million”
  • “Unemployment rate jumped to 6.5% between November and January”
  • “Conservative Leader David Cameron countered that the Labor government was to blame for the rise in unemployment”

 Task 2:

People Mentioned and their Job Roles:

David Cameron – Conservative Leader

Alan Tomlinson – Accountant

David Kern – Chief Economist at the British Chambers of Commerce

Gordon Brown – Prime Minister

Owen Bednall – Previous BMW Plant

Brendan Barber – TUC General

 Locations Mentioned:

 United Kingdom

 Dates Mentioned in the Article:

(NO DATES WERE MENTIONED ONLY MONTHS AND YEARS)

 December 2008

September 2008

January

February

November

2009

Name of Organizations:

Office for National Statistics (ONS)

Jobseekers

TUC

British Chambers of Commerce

Summary:

After researching and studying the unemployment article, I have discovered that the article is two sided. One part of the article is ‘for’ and the other part of the article is ‘against’.

‘Owen Bednall’, ‘Jo from Horsham’ and ‘Alan Tomlinson’ are against unemployment. The link between all 3 of them is that they have all lost their jobs and are now all unemployed.

Assignment 3

Task 1:

  • Explain the production process of the chocolate assignment I did/created.

Focus on:

  • Ideas process.
  • Research
  • What was learned from the research and how I used it
  • Equipment needed / used

Production & Pitch Review

PRODUCTION PROCESS:

The product I created/produced was a chocolate bar; a chocolate wrapper, an advertising poster and a TV advert for Thornberry’s chocolate company. I developed ideas for my chocolate bar by considering whether the shape of the chocolate, its size, appearance, ingredients, price etc. I then had to create an advertising poster and a TV advert, which would help promote and expand my chocolate bar.

IDEAS PROCESS:

I started generating ideas by searching for different fonts and designs in Google. I also searched for wrapper ideas because I didn’t just want my wrapper to be plain and boring. Also, I thought about what my audience might want to buy.

RESEARCH; WHAT I LEARNED:

I had to research all types of chocolate bars. I had to take height, weight, size, price and value into consideration. Once I had done all the research for my chocolate bar, I then had to develop ideas for my chocolate that I was creating for Thornbury’s. From my research, I learned that depending on the size of the chocolate and whether its fair trade or not, the price ranges.

EQUIPMENT USED:

Using Photoshop, I had to edit my chocolate bar wrapper as well as the chocolate bar its self. I had to include colors, images and a logo I created from scratch. I also used PowerPoint & Google.

Task 3:

After reviewing my pitch, I learned that there were things that I could have improved to make my pitch better. In my own opinion, I believe that my picth was okay. Even though I was prepared for the pitch, I felt that I conducted myself pretty well.

One of the things that I wish I had done when presenting was use Cue cards throughout my presentation. I felt that my speech was a bit pitchy. I wish I spoke louder and actually addressed my audience.

When I watched back the record pitch, I didn’t have any eye contact with the camera or my audience. Another one of my faults in my pitch was that I didn’t face my audience. Throughout my pitch I had my back towards the audience. I felt that maybe if I engaged with the audience more then my presentation would have gone a lot better.

  1. I believe that this presentation looks very smart it has some very good points in it , not too much writing so the audience will not get bored but enough so the audience will know what they are listening to , you will really stuck to the brief and included the right things well done shay.

  2. i really enjoyed looking at your work, i think it was really good the colours were bright . you have included all the information needed . great x

This is shaping up to be an excellent piece of work but you’ll need to make a few changes:
You will need to work on the language style slide making it clear the type of language use and not comment on the part of the world that the language comes from.
You need to take out the mention of film in the graph slide.
